Erich was third overall and age group with a 1:24:06 final time and the fastest bike split of the day. Former TriRochester member, Mederic Hall placed fourth behind Erich. Maple Grove Half Marathon
Bill Nevala got a half marathon PR this weekend at the Maple Grove Half Marathon. He finished with 2:09:43. Bill gives this race a good review as he writes, “The Maple Grove 1/2 Marathon was a great race. The course was scenic and ran through many neighborhoods in Maple Grove, around some of the smaller lakes on some of nicest trails I have seen. The course was HILLY and made us all suffer a bit. Great shirts at the finish and tons of post-race food. I recommend this race for sure! It was sold out at 750 1/2 Marathoners.”
Hayfield Fire Dept 5k/8k and Kid’s race
Mario Minelli and Kelly O’Hara ran the 8k and Travis Seeger (with 2 kids along for the ride) and Jace and Carin Minelli ran the 5k. Mario won the 8k division and Travis placed third in the 5k behind Dallas D and Tom Woo. This is a well organized small town race with a mostly flat course.
Here is Mario's recap- The 5k and 8k started at the same time. We started fast--Dallas D and I were at the front. I knew he was doing the 5k so I didn't worry about him, but I paced off him falling back a few yards. By the time we hit mile 1, he was about 5-7 seconds up. First mile for me a little fast, but I'd have to adjust if needed. I felt ok for most of the race, but when I hit the turn around at 2.46, I knew it was going to be tough as it was about a 1/2 mile slight downhill with a tail wind before that. Turned around and BAM--uphill into the wind. It leveled out a half mile later, then another 1/2 mile and it was a left turn back on route. Flat the rest of the way with 4 more turns. I didn't look at my overall time so when I turned the last corner and saw the race timer I was happy to see 29 and some change. Didn't even think I'd make it under 30. And the course was a bit long.
Upcoming Club Activities.
There is a lot going on in the club in the next few weeks. Minnesota outdoor Tri season is here and we have lots of opportunities for members to get toghether and prepare for it. Here is a run-down:
Wed. May 16th - Weekly group run at Soldier's Field (Meeting at RunningRoom)
Thurs. May 17th - The third in our Spring Time Trial series. Last week we were only 2 people shy of our all time record number of participants (35). Let's see if we can break that over the next two weeks.
Sat. May 19th - Group ride starting in Douglas at 8:30am. We are hoping to see a lot of the new members for this ride. There will be multiple paces and distances and they will be no-drop rides, so you don't have to worry about getting left behind or lost.
May 20th - 26th - Run workout on wed, time Trial on Thurs, TriRochester Booth at the Med City Expo Saturday.
May 27th - TriRochester Water Stop - We'll be at mile 6 on the Med City course handing out drinks and cheering on the runners. We are still looking for more people to help us motivate the runners on their way to Rochester.
May 31st - Thursday Night Tri's start!!! And as a bonus, the monthly social will be that night as well (starting later than usual at 8:15, so you can do both).
The best place to find out more info is on our Events page. You can also check the calendar. Check back with the website often and keep an eye on your email inbox for updates and more info. This is a busy time of year - don't miss out!
Spring Timetrial Results - May 10th, 2012
Another great turnout for the timetrial this week with over 30 participants. The wind, absent last week, was with back with us this week at 15mph from the south, but it was sunny and in the low 70's. The Results are available now. Once again, note that the pace listed is in miles per hour.
We did have a couple of mechanical issues including one at the start. A few people have asked if their times were right due to that. The final results do account for the adjusted start times.
We will have two more weeks in this spring TT series. If you haven't been out yet this year, it is not too late. Check out the Spring TT Page for info including a map and description of the course.

Paper Discovery Duathlon 2012
On Sunday 6 May, Ann and Joe Moyer competed in the Paper Discovery Duathlon held at Riverside Park in Neenah, WI. The race has a 2 mile run, 19.5 mile bike, and a 2 mile run. It was a rainy and stormy day, but Ann was not deterred by the weather, as she is one of those rare athletes who enjoy harsh conditions. She reports, "The storm was getting a little more impressive toward the end. I had SOOO much fun as it started raining more and more!! :) Unfortunately though my family came to watch and Ann's fun racing weather = super crappy spectating weather." In the end the Moyers prevailed with Joe placing 2nd in the men’s division and Ann placing 2nd in the women’s division.
Moyer, Joe 01:10:40.1
Moyer, Ann 01:21:37.0

Spring Timetrial Results - May 3rd, 2012
Week #1 is in the books. Thanks to everyone for coming out tonight!
Week 1 - May 3rd, 2012 Results
Tonight turned out to be better than expected in terms of the weather. This was one of the calmest nights we have run this course. We had a good group of 23 riders including several new people.
Weather: 75-degrees F, with winds at 4mph from the WSW, Humid with storm clouds but no rain.
Note - one oddity on the results is that the pace is in miles-per-hour but is being displayed as if it was minutes-per-mile. Hopefully I can resolve that. Also, for next week, the course is now marked!
Run Results: Semyo 5k and Diva Dash
