Group Run Workouts

We are starting up the run workout series this Wednesday.  Click here for details.  For this week, it will be a more casual social run to kick things off and starting next week we will have more daylight and options of group runs on the trail and organized track workouts.

Remember that we also have the Monday night indoor trainer rides going on each week.

TriRochester Birkiebeiner Skiers

Six TriRochester members joined nearly 6000 other skiers this weekend for the annual American Birkebeiner cross country ski race. The skate skiers, Rob, Peter and Kathy skied 50k and the classic skiers, Chris, Liz and Joe, skied 54k. The Birkie weekend is a very big deal. Every February, some 15,000 skiers descend on the remote northern Wisconsin town of Hayward for three days of cross country ski fun. This race was named one of National Geographic’s top ten Great Races in Amazing Places. In addition to the Birkie 50k/54k, there is the Kortelopet 23k, the Prince Haakon 12k, the Barkie Birke skijor (which involves a dog) and events for kids. The weekend also features the Birkie Tour, a noncompetitive ski tour open to all skiers who want to have fun. Congrats to our skiing triathletes on a great race!

TriRochester Kits + additional clothes

It's time to order TriRochester logo gear.  USAT rules (Article III, Rule 3.4.n) says you have to wear clothes at a race; you might as well look good and represent your club at the same time. We'll be ordering kits (tri top and/or tri shorts) and possibly a few other new items. All club members are encouraged to wear the uniform. It's a really cool thing to see our logos on athletes at races. Please help us by completing a survey about what you want to have. If you need multiple of an item, add that in the Comment Box at the bottom. For the "extra" items, there will be a minimum needed for us to place the order so feel free to encourage your fellow club members to place their orders too.  There is a turn-around time to make custom kits, so time is of the essence. In order to have these ready for the start of the season, we need your order information right away.

Club Races

Be on the lookout for the TriRochester tent at races this season.  We will set up the tent in an area convenient for both athletes and spectators. You can bring a chair or blanket, drop off your bag and then come hang out after you cross the finish line. Our plan is to have a “host” for the race, a person who is not racing who can help club members with race prep, getting results, and taking pictures.  We will start with Trinona, Rochesterfest, and Chisago and then decide what late-season races to send the tent to. If you can be a host for a particular race, please contact our membership coordinator, Pattie.

On the member survey last year we asked "In addition to our hometown RochesterFest race, what race you would like to see TriRochester have a club focus on?"  Two races got a lot of votes: Trinona and Chisago.  In light of that we are going to increase our presence and boost the club atmosphere at these races.  We are also planning to provide additional refreshments for the club after these races, so whether you are spectating or racing plan to come hang out afterward.
